Why does Canton only sell to wholesale?

We focus on what we do best: buying tea direct, packing it into wholesale bags and communicating with our trade partners. We have a smaller range ensuring they are the best teas available in the UK. We concentrate on supporting our trade partners with training and tasting events. By only doing wholesale, we can happily avoid the more costly, extravagant and environmentally challenging consumer and gift packaging that is associated with premium products.

Can we visit your London address to buy tea directly?

We don’t have a tea shop as our focus is on supplying wholesale. This means we can offer the best quality tea at the best price.  Our Tea Studio in London is for training and our address in Bristol is an operational office. Neither of them hold stock available to buy.

Has your range got smaller? 

We used to have over 100 teas. It was hard to control stock levels and presented an overwhelming choice for our customers. We now have 33 teas in the new Canton Collection. It is still an extensive range for our wholesale customers and will remain our constant, core collection. We can hold up every one of these teas as the best available in the UK. We know the provenance of every leaf. They are all completely natural. They are always in stock.  We also introduce signature teas, bespoke blends and a Limited Edition range with rare, wild and unusual seasonal teas.


Can we order other teas?

We introduce our seasonal Limited Edition range several times throughout the year. Just a few rare and wild teas with astonishing provenance stories. Ideal if you want something unique to lift your menu into the extraordinary.


Can we have our own signature teas?

Yes although we do have MOQ criteria. You can create signature blends and you can also have Canton teas in our Canton cubes with your own labels, the co-branded retail tea caddies.

Why are your pack sizes larger?

Some pack sizes are now larger and more suited to wholesale and catering environments. This means less waste with one bigger bag, it reduces packaging and packing costs so keeping prices down.

Can we order online?

Yes, and you get free delivery when you have an online account. It is designed to make ordering easy. Once your account is set up you can see your customised tea list, your order history and you can order online 24/7. Fill out this short form to set up an account.

Why don’t you mention organic on the packaging?

Some of our teas are still certified organic, particularly in the herbal range. However, most of the teas in our range are often beyond organic, but not certified. We buy traditional, high grade teas direct from small producers all over the world and they do not need or want a western organic certification label to sell their tea.

We took the decision not to state the organic status on any of our teas as it undermines the desirability of our other teas that are traditionally slow grown without the use of chemicals, hand picked and skilfully crafted.

How should we store our tea?

We have two options to store your teas. We have a range of glass display jars, with wooden lids and rubber airtight seals to keep your leaves fresh and maintain their flavour. We now also have the Canton cube, a matt white tin which protects the leaves from sunlight and with a hinged airtight lid. Each tea is differentiated with a striking Canton colour block label. You can contact us to arrange new or replacement storage options, or simply add to your next online order. 

Can I still use your old branding on display jars?

We’d rather you didn’t!  We updated our brand last year and have worked hard to get it out quickly to all our customers across the UK – and beyond. We invested in this rebrand because we believe it is stronger, more attractive and sends the right message to differentiate the brand. The purpose is to help uplift your sales which is why we’d like you to embrace it.  

Do you have any retail products we can sell?

Yes, our six bestselling teas are available in retail tins, which you can order individually or by the case.

How often do you introduce new teas?

Last year we reviewed our range and made several improvements to ensure we can confidently stand behind every tea we sell and say it is the best in class. Each exclusive Canton blend is made with extremely high grade ingredients. Unlike most blends on the market, ours have only pure, natural ingredients such as fruit oils and the extracts and oils from the leaves, petals, roots, seeds and berries.

Several times throughout the year we will introduce our Limited Edition collection of fabulously rare or wild, seasonal teas with fascinating provenance stories.


Do you offer training to those serving Canton?

Yes. Every month we hold a Teach open training session at our central London Tea Studio. This is free to all Canton partners. Contact us online or through your account manager or tea trainer, to book places in advance. For partners who have a team of people to train, we can run a training session on site.


Are your pyramids biodegradable?

Yes. They are made from plant material derived from corn starch, which is a renewable resource. It is certified as biodegradable, as eventually it breaks down into water and CO2. Although it won’t break down in domestic compost heap, you can put it in your food waste collection where it safely breaks down under the right conditions. These are considered much better than paper teabags (which contain plastic) and nylon pyramids.
